Recast Homes is a design-driven Design + Build studio who believes in producing thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship while also delivering an excellent client experience. Based out of Portland, OR, Recast specializes in the remodeling of kitchens, bathrooms and whole homes, and is run by principal designer and licensed general contractor Krisanna Sanders.

Our origin story starts with Krisanna's exposure to home remodeling as she grew up watching her Mom tackle any and every home renovation project herself. This carried on in her adult life when she designed, and acted as the GC, on her own personal home remodels over the years. Krisanna experienced the joy and satisfaction in both creating a beautiful design and then managing that design throughout the build process. She noticed that the seamlessness from design-to-build in her own projects was not the common experience of the friends and family around her. Countless remodel horror stories continued to unfold, and she saw that a major contributor to the issue was a lack of process and continuity. Her experience in the corporate world, combined with a passion for beautiful design and quality craftsmanship, led her to develop a Design + Build business born from a process and systems perspective, and rooted in the classic business principal of client satisfaction.

Recast Homes’ business model brings a vertically integrated architectural design and construction management process to your project by managing every aspect from start to finish. We are the designer, project manager and general contractor for our projects. There is no hand-off. The same team working with you on the hundreds (if not thousands) of details during the design phase, is the same team on site day-to-day during renovation. This continuity of service translates to greater design accuracy and higher construction efficiency, which means more successful projects.

Simply put, we design with the construction in mind, and construct with the design in mind.

Krisanna Sanders | Owner - Principal Designer - Licensed General Contractor

Born and raised in Portland, OR, Krisanna is a 6th generation Oregonian on her Mother’s side, and 4th generation on her Father’s side. She went to college in Michigan, where she received a BA in the liberal arts, and during that time, gained her first exposure in construction site management as the College’s student director for their Habitat for Humanity international program,

Krisanna worked in the medical device industry for 13 years as she supported her husband through the long journey of medical school, residency and fellowship training. Much to Krisanna’s surprise, she attributes a lot of her current spacial planning literacy, and the ability to understand complex construction principals, to attending countless surgical procedures and witnessing the interplay between tools, anatomy and imaging through endoscopic and fluoroscopic surgeries.

Krisanna has been passionate about design and interior architecture from a young age. She is also just as passionate about the process of how a design passes through the hands of dozens of craftspeople along the way and enjoys the collaboration of making.

After hours, Krisanna loves to work on her own home, go antiquing, spending time with friends - and most importantly, spending time with her family - two young daughters, husband, large dog and snaggle-toothed cat.

Kaley Gorman | Design Drafter - Project Coordinator

Kaley was also born and raised in Portland, OR and received a BS in Architecture from Portland State University. She has always loved architecture and design, and wanted to gain a deeper understanding of the residential interior built space. This led her to seek a job with Recast Homes, where she knew she could gain experience and exposure in both design and residential construction.

After hours you can find Kaley camping/adventuring with her partner, hanging out with friends and family, dreaming up plans for her little home, and planning her next international adventure!

Jenna Tiland | Design & Project Coordinator

Jenna grew up in Santa Cruz, where she was surrounded by the beautiful natural elements found in the California coast. Pursuing a degree in early childhood education at Oregon State University is what brought Jenna to Oregon, and after college she was a lead teacher for the Nike preschool program for several years.

In her heart, Jenna always knew that she had an eye and passion for design and interiors - and felt that she could develop that passion into skills, which led her to take courses through Portland's Heritage School of Design, where she learned the necessary building blocks in interior design software and theory. During her final term at Heritage, Jenna met Krisanna who was searching for her first intern. What started as a handful of hours per week learning the ins and outs of the design + build business, quickly turned into Jenna working for Recast Homes full-time before having her beautiful twin girls.

Jenna now works part-time for Recast and in her free time loves spending time with family and friends, and dreaming up big plans for their home's upcoming remodel.
